Amazing Amazons: War Gods of Olympus

As many of you probably know, Crocodile Games is doing a very nice kickstarter campaign right now.  It is called War Gods of Olympus, and they are unlocking factions and miniatures left and right!

One of these newly unlocked factions are the Amazons.  In this post, I will be showing some of the concept art, as well as the incredible greens!  The fact that these are still sculpted by hand by Mr. Fitzpatrick, a long time master.

Cathy and I have coveted War Gods figures since we first started getting into the miniature painting... especially since 2003.  The sculpts have always been consistent in quality, with excellent production values.

I am fortunate enough to be painting one of the Amazons right now:

There are also plenty of troops being made for each faction, and the Amazons are no exception!  Here are some of those greens.

When you look at the PDF on the kickstarter page, you will find a PDF that has an introduction to the Amazons, with stoy, stats and concept art.  You will see that the figures are very true to the concept art.

Since they have a vast existing product and years of experience doing what they do so well, I believe the turnaround time for the deliveries is very rapid.

I will be posting the painted figure as soon as it's done!  Stay tuned for that.

Here's a quick list of Demigods & city-state compatibility, as it currently stands.

An Athenian warband may be lead by a Demigod of Apollo, Ares, Athena,Dionysus, Hephaestus, Hades, Hecate, Poseidon, and Zeus.

An Amazon warband may be lead only by a female Demigod of Apollo, Ares,Athena, Artemis, Hades, Hecate, Poseidon, or Zeus. Male Demigods are not permitted.

A Corinthian warband may be lead by a Demigod of Apollo, Ares, Athena,Dionysus, Hephaestus, Hades, Hecate, Poseidon, and Zeus.

A Mycenaean warband may be lead by a male Demigod of Apollo, Ares, Artemis Hades Hephaestus, and Zeus.

A Spartan warband may be lead by a male Demigod of Apollo, Ares,Dionysus, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus. Female Demigods are not permitted.

A Trojan warband may be lead by a Demigod of Apollo, Ares, Artemis,Athena, Dionysus, Hephaestus, Hades, Hecate, and Zeus.

We're also including a customization section, so you can effectively make up whatever you want (with some restrictions). So, you could build something like a Sparta warband lead by a Demigod of Artemis, but you'd not be able to take all the options that are available. Such a warband they would basically be outcasts, wandering around on the fringe of Spartan society and having adventures, with only the Demigod's family
warriors as her protectors.

L'illustration de Des Anley fait saliver. C'est Todd Harris qui sculptera les Corinthiens (et je suppose les Athéniens s'ils sont débloqués). Il commence à sculpter le mois prochain.

Corinth Unlocked!

Hi All,
We woke up this morning to discover we had passed another milestone on our journey through Olympus - Corinth has been unlocked! A huge thank you to everyone who has made this possible, we are so excited to be able to finally make the Corinthians!
The Corinthians are the richest of the city-states, their warriors are spared no expense and have the finest armor and weapons.  Their leaders ride into battle on magnificent winged horses.  Those enemies they can not defeat by sword or spear they bribe them to betrayal with their endless coin! 
What does it mean now that the Corinthians are unlocked?  We already have rules and art for the Corinthians, now we can commission the miniatures to be sculpted.  Long time Croc veteran Todd Harris (famous for Spartans, Mycenaeans, and lots of Aegyptus stuff!) has sworn his sculpting tool to our cause, and will be beginning the first of the Corinthian models next month!  We'll be sending our backers regular updates and photos of the sculptures as they happen!  By this time next year, we'll have a completed Corinthian Warband Starter Set, Hoplite Unit, Peltast Unit, Archer Unit, Swordsman Unit, Hero with Armor Rack and Captain with Casualty.  You may now select these as an option for your rewards on Kickstarter, but they will be shipped with the book in July 2014.

[WarGods of Olympus] Look des futures figurines

 

Les Peltastes mycenniens devraient ressembler aux troyens en ce qui
concerne la jupe/kilt. Les figurines d'Athéniens et de Corinthiens
devraient être standard avec des boucliers et capitaines pour bien les
différencier.

The Mycenaean Peltasts will look a bit like the Trojans, but with a bit
of leather armor and a fringed kilt rather than the Trojan zigzag.

Athenian and Corinthian are going to be universal models, but with
city-specific shield arms, and a city-specific captain.

Amazons get cavalry instead of chariots. Only their servants/slaves ride
in carts, pulled by oxen - they consider chariots to be the same thing
as wagons - it is beneath the dignity of an Amazon warrior to ride in a
wagon, and beneath the dignity of a horse to pull one!

Chris nous parle des Automates d'Héphaïstos qui seront accessibles pour
les escortes de son Demi-Dieu. D'autres Demi-Dieux donneront accès à des
unités d'élites spéciales comme ça. Spécial veut actuellement dire 25%
de l'armée maximum.

Yes, Automatons are creations that can be used in a warband lead by a
Demigod of Hephaestus. Some of the Demigods enable you to include mythic
units for your warband.

$80,000 - Reinforcements: All Peltast Units in all reward levels will be upgraded from 10 to 12 miniatures when we reach the $80,000 funding level.

$90,000 - Automatons: We'll unlock the bronze Automatons of Hephaestus when we reach the $90,000 funding level. These will be available as a purchasable Add-On, estimated shipping July 2014. A free Owl Automaton miniature will be added to all reward levels except Watcher and Warrior.

$100,000 - Gates of Troy: We'll unlock another wave of Trojans when we reach the $100,000 funding level. Once unlocked, you'll be able to select them as a purchasable Add-On, estimated shipping August, 2014; Includes Trojan Chariot, Trojan War Altar, Seer, Tragic Hero, Paris, and Hector.

$125,000 - Fall of Troy: A free Helen of Troy miniature will be added to the Skirmish, Warband, Army, and Council of the Gods reward levels. This miniature is exclusive to the WarGods Kickstarter program and will not be available elsewhere.
